Managed Services

NAGRA performs activities and responsibilities normally undertaken by our customers.

It can be, for example, managing key steps of DTV projects and associated operations for them, the quick launch of new services or the upgrade of existing services with new features or CE devices.

NAGRA offers four types of Managed Services.

Hosting

NAGRA can provide hosting services for part or the entirety of a customer’s platform in one of its secured data centres. Through these services, the customer has a dedicated platform financed through an OPEX model (e.g. monthly fee) operated and monitored according to the signed service level agreement. The platform can later be transferred to the customer’s premises. This option can complement or offer an alternative to an end-to-end turnkey solution delivery allowing the customer to jump start operations with an affordable OPEX model.

NAGRA can also provide multi-operator, shared DTV services giving a customer access to the specified features, performances and level of security without necessarily having dedicated hardware. In this case, the customer goes through a full opex model (e.g.: monthly fee) according to the signed specifications and service level agreement. This option does not include any transfer of hardware to the customer’s premises.

Hosting

On-Site CAS and Headend Operations

NAGRA CAS and Headend Operations allow operators to fully rely on NAGRA Managed Services for all CAS and headend related operations - on a dedicated platform within their premises. It is a very good alternative for an operator wishing to run pay-TV services with limited resources and keep focused on revenue generating activities. With this option, NAGRA fully operates the customer’s Conditional Access System and Headend, and is responsible for all related tasks and services.

Business Continuity

NAGRA Business Continuity consists of the implementation of processes and tools to ensure high system availability and the continuation and improvement of the operators’ activity despite challenges and incidents they might face. Services can include:

  • Consulting
  • System checks
  • Testing for resilience and processes for disaster and data recovery, redundancy testing and incident management
  • Inventory and release management

Operator Device / STB Managed Services

For pay-TV operators, staying ahead of the game and more and more sophisticated technical STBs can tax resources that could be better used on core business competencies. Outsourcing STB related tasks through managed services can be an excellent alternative for operators, providing them with increased flexibility and agility as well as higher revenues driven by better STB performance and service. Additional benefits may include access to skills they might not have in-house such as user experience, security or system architecture and the added assurance that these skills will be up-to-date and scalable.
