About NAGRA Media ACCESS ELK

NAGRA Media ACCESS ELK is a next generation security platform designed by Nagravision to protect live video content over 'always on’ managed IP networks. This state-of-the-art security system leverages an innovative combination of software and a widely supported embedded root of trust to secure pay TV operators’ foundation services such as live TV and Pay-Per-View (PPV). Integrated with NAGRA Media PRM (Persistent Rights Management), NAGRA Media ACCESS ELK provides the security for advanced services such as Video-on-Demand (VOD), Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and Network Personal Video Recorder (NPVR) usage.

NAGRA Media ACCESS ELK is the security foundation of Nagravision’s end-to-end IPTV solution, which includes a client user interface, middleware, service delivery platform (SDP) and content management system (CMS) for Live TV, VOD, catch-up, start-over and widget offerings. The solution uses a hardware root of trust using Nagra On Chip Security (NOCS) which has been certified on over 30 chipsets from all the major chipset suppliers and deployed in over 30 million set-top boxes already. Operators using the complete Nagravision turnkey system remain in control of the user experience.

Available today on a wide range of chipsets and set-top boxes, adding NAGRA Media ACCESS ELK to an IP only, or hybrid network, allows operators to increase potential revenue by providing subscribers with a greater selection of content choices. NAGRA Media ACCESS ELK can also be deployed to multiple operators, where one set-top supports multiple operators, or in a wholesale model where one centralized operator provides IPTV services to smaller regional operators. Additionally, using NAGRA Media ACCESS ELK and NAGRA Media PRM, live or VOD content can be recorded securely on any type of hard drive (set-top box internal hard drive, external hard drive, etc.) belonging to a subscriber, and usage rules are defined by the operator.

The 2009 TelcoTV Vision Awards winners were announced during TelcoTV 2009 on Wednesday, November 11, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
