Montreux Jazz Festival Partnership
Montreux Jazz Festival
The Kudelski Group is proud to partner with Montreux Jazz Festival, one of the most innovative cultural events in the world.
Founded in 1967 by Claude Nobs, the MJF has become one of the world’s most important cultural events, with 250,000 visitors annually. Jazz music may have constituted the Festival’s historic roots, but other musical styles quickly found their place within the Festival, sharing a common bond of musical curiosity, the blending of genres, and the spontaneous events that are at the heart of the Montreux experience.
Following the passing of Claude Nobs in 2013, Mathieu Jaton is now at the reins of the Montreux Jazz Festival with his team, pursuing Claude’s vision with respect for the Festival’s heritage as well as an eye to the future.
Like the Jazz Festival, the Kudelski Group has an innovative pulse and a passion for blending ideas and technology to push boundaries in the world of sound. The Kudelski Group is honoured to be able to support the Montreux Jazz Festival through the use of its finest audio technologies.
Kudelski Group as a Strategic Partner
The Kudelski Group has been closely associated with the Montreux Jazz Festival since its creation in 1967, helping deliver a first-class service.
- It has supported the Festival through a wide range of projects, from creating its access systems, badge and accreditation solutions, through to providing the technology to record concerts and piano competitions since 1991.
- The Kudelski Group has played a seminal role in creating a high-resolution digital archive of the Festival. Its legendary NAGRA tape recorder was used to record an intercultural collection of music, listed by UNESCO in June 2003 on the “Memory of the World” register. It comprises over 5’000 hours of music including extremely rare pieces and impromptu jam sessions by some of the world’s most famous musicians of the last 50 years. The collection is currently being digitized by the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and Montreux Sounds to create a unique heritage that will be made available to the public through various multimedia platforms.
- As technology has progressed, so has the support that the Group has offered. In 2010, for example, NAGRA technology was used to record live performances and interviews with contemporary and indie artists who were part of Experience Montreux, a high-definition 3D documentary of the 44th Festival produced by the Group.
- Since 2000, the Group has been hosting corporate receptions, at which the networking, exchange of ideas and creativity that fuel the continual development of one of the most important cultural events in Europe, can take place.
