2007 WORLD HANDBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN GERMANY - MAJOR INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT CONCLUDED WITH TICKETCORNER

Rümlang, 9 September 2005 - Ticketcorner concluded an important international agreement today which will significantly strengthen the Swiss company’s position on the German market. Tickets for the World Handball Championships, to be held in 2007, will be marketed exclusively through Ticketcorner. The World Handball Championships are the most important upcoming sports event in Germany after the Football World Cup in 2006. Sales volumes are expected to reach several hundred thousand tickets.

The World Handball Championships will be held in January and February of 2007. They are the most important sports event being hosted by Germany over the next few years after the Football World Cup. A total of 24 national teams will compete against each other at 12 different venues, making for the biggest and longest-running world championship games ever in handball. Handball is the sport in Ger-many with the largest number of spectators after football. In this respect it enjoys a status comparable to that of ice hockey in Switzerland. Large-scale handball arenas are located in Germany’s leading cities, and the top matches of the German handball championship normally attract up to 15,000 fans. Last year, over 30,000 spectators attended the match between the two top German teams TBV Lemgo and THW Kiel, setting a new world record for attendance at a handball game.

Ticketcorner will have full exclusive ticketing rights for the World Handball Championships in 2007. Advance sales are set to begin in the next few weeks. Organisers are expecting several thousand tickets to be sold. This agreement was made possible by Ticketcorner’s well-established position on the German market. "This agreement represents an important step forward for us in the German market", comments George Egloff, CEO of Ticketcorner. "Major events of this kind help enormously to reinforce the Ticketcorner brand among consumers. Plus, the World Handball Championships are a first-class platform for applying modern technologies like RFID, as well as our integrated ticketing/access solutions".
